help! I was just named as "fundraiser" for a local non profit here in Oregon. I would really appreciate some NEW ideals for fundraising. I know the old ones silent auction, gala's, dinners, telemarketing. I would like to know what other people, that would not normally give, would consider going, doing, giving what would motivate you? also those that give, what would you like to see different than the normal pitch? any advise is appriciated.
Oh ya and it is for at risk youth. Thank you!! :]]]]
we did one recently and called it 5 for kids (kids being the local kids ward at the hospital), everyone has a car dash full of 5 cent peices, or has them thrown some where at home, so we had businesses and schools carry the bins for a month with "5 for kids" written on it and the radio station promoted it all day and night on their promos…..in a town of just 40 thousand it pulled $370,000 in 4 weeks….. and the incentives for the business and schools were, the school that made the most got a live radio disco for the kids and the business that made the most recieved a $1000 advertising voucher. (plus all participating businesses recieved free on air promos during the charity run)

Help is here.
I raise funds for an International Charity. Fund raising is difficult.
These are my suggestions:
* Antique Auto show. Tons of people show up and donate.
* Speed Pitch Game at a Town event…we raised $3,000.00 in 4 hours after expenses.
* Combine your efforts with another Charity: Lions Club, Rotary, Knights of Columbus. Very Large crowds attend those functions.
At a combined Pancake Bfast……5,000 people showed up. After expenses, Both groups neted $ 4,000 each….for 5 hours effort.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Talk to your local rotary club. They help out other organizations with funding.
I like a fundraiser where I can buy something for a cause, not just give money. Bakes sales, car washes things like that.

Angel 76 – Volunteers are very special people so we need to look after them. These are ideas I have used as a youth worker to raise funds and the awareness of the community.
1…Coin crawl – Organise a basketball court during a big game.Wait for half-time and then place some coins, on the outside line of the court and ask the public to help you raise some funds by placing a coin on the line. The object is to try and work your way to a target. Fill the line / travel around the court / cross the transfer lines! Your target will depend on how big the crowd and how well you can involve them. A well known identity on a microphone encouraging the audience can do wonders.
2…If you place a donated bottle of champagne in the middle of the floor of your local club (with permission) and tell the crowd that they can toss a coin from behind a set line on the floor, and see how close they can place the coin to the bottle.
The closest wins the bottle / you can have as many goes as you like / it is quick and if successful could be repeated same time each week for one month…Good luck!!
