School Auction Blog

Everything about school auctions

I am on a committee for an annual fundraising event for a children's charity. I am in charge of silent auction items. Do you have any good suggestions on items I can try to get?

Hit some of your neighborhood strip malls, try some of the stores you frequent. Go in person, though, don't just call them. Ask for the manager and explain your project. Most will donate something. I wouldn't ask for any particular item, just let them donate what they want. You wouldn't believe all the free stuff they'll give you if they know it's going for a neighborood kids group. You should promise that they will get recognition at the auction for their donation, like a sign saying who donated each item.

I would ask local hotels in your area. Alot of time they will donate it gets people to there property with potential for them to stay again as a paying guest, plus its a tax right off. I would send a fax cause most don't like phone calls.

Get out the Phone book and go thru the yellow pages and call everybody and ask for something! You get a lot that way and even it the stuff is not worth a lot it will add up by the time you sell everything!
