I am chairing the silent auction at my daughters school this year and I want to make things exciting and obviously successful. What items would you bid on? What items are "hot" items? Please help me compile a list of things that will bring in big money for our school. I am trying to add a new spark to the old silent auction and welcome any suggestions. Serious replies only please. Thank you
Things like holidays, household appliances, and collectables usually do well.
I am organising a silent auction atm too and am looking at things like concert tickets, meet and greets with stars of shows, etc, as something different or a bit of a sweetner.

find out what musical group kids are in and check and see if any concert shows are coming up. if you’re looking to make it more expensive or whatever add a nights stay at a hotel. you’ll definately get bids for that!

It depends on the type of school, the time of year, and of course, the community you live in.
In a school with a multi-ethnic background, parents might consider offering their services to come into your home to cook an authentic ethnic meal for your family.
I know a person with a very interesting profession. They offered a behind-the-scenes guided tour of their workplace. It was excellent!
An avid gardener could offer a landscape consultation/plan for an outdoor makeover. A person who owns horses could offer a riding lesson or trail ride. A good golfer could share a round with you at their favorite course (and if it’s someone at the school who is a well-known charismatic character, all the better).
What I’m saying is that unique experiences appeal, not just things. There’s more to it than having a couple of big-ticket items. Involving people who might not think they have anything to offer (but have a wealth of hidden talents) makes things interesting.
