I coach a middle school cheerleading team. We’re planning a V-Day auction & will auction b-ball players…

(before Valentine’s Day) and the winning bidders will be walked to class by the athlete that they win on 2/14. This will be a fundraiser for the cheerleading team….so we want to make enough profit for the whole team. This is the first time we have ever done this auction….any suggestions/ideas?

it doesn’t sound like that great an idea actually. it is innovative and creative I’ll give you that. it’s just that the notion of auctioning off athletes/people is a little noxious and distasteful. and above that, you’re encouraging the ‘worship’ and idolisation of athletes which doesn’t seem so right as well. plus, they’re just school athletes too…
all in all, I don’t think it’s such a good idea. why not do something that is unique to your cheerleading group i.e. cheerleading. just a suggestion, but why not get people to pay for you guys to cheer a message, a name or something..
