Get local businesses to donate a free dinner where the date can take place, or try to get movie tickets or something too.
I'm not sure if you'll get much money from this...people might feel funny about declaring their desire to date a person by "bidding" on them. You'll probably do okay with dates who already are attached to someone because their SOs will bid on them, but others could end up with hurt feelings and no bids...or a fight could break out over someone bidding on someone else's steady..
You might be better off auctioning off services, such as:
this group of three girls will wash the car of the highest bidder, this straight A student will tudor you for an hour three times in any subject you choose, this football star will cook you a four course meal.
I think in times long ago, they used to auction off box lunches...women would prepare a lunch, put it in a decorated box and no one would know who the box belonged to so they would bid based on the way the box looked and then the prize would be to eat lunch with the person who made the box...maybe you should try something like that instead.
