School Auction Blog

Everything about school auctions

Every spring my daughter's school has a dinner/dance/auction for the parents. Each class at the school (K-7) has something up for auction (a vacation home, a trip, handmade furniture…etc) and it's not made by the kids. The classroom parents either donate $ toward the purchase of supplies or help buld it. Any ideas? One idea already up is a bistro table with a checkerboard design laid down with tile on top of the table (so you can play either checkers or chess) and two chairs.

My husband is a photographer and always donates free portrait sessions for school auctions. Check with local business, we love it, free advertising and usually repeat business.

I know our school puts up for auction theme baskets that the kids put together and some local businesses do some donations of gift certificates and such.

You should do something simple that gets the children involved like a bake sale or hand made x-mas ornaments. Its for the children so they should have a hand in it. Take some suggestions from them.

    How about a garden/tool shed?
Or a storage chest for deck/patio?
    A set of Adirondack chairs?
A wood "play center" like parks have?
A portable butcher-block island for the kitchen?
A dog house, or an elaborate doll house?

How about a basket for a popular sports team in your area. Last year we did that, and the Ohio State University basket went for several hundred dollars. It had all kids of OSU stuff — shirts, hats, a blanket, jewelry, etc.
