Everything about school auctions

OK… So I wanted to be the "joiner" mom at my daughters new school. I volunteered to manage the class project that is to be actioned off at the schools major fund raiser Gala. I need ideas for a really nice (think will make lots of money at auction) class project that would not be too difficut for a 4 year old class to complete by Sept. 22. HELP! I have no flipping idea what to do.

get a big poster, i big picture of like…..a puppy or…something kids like. then divide that picture up into even squares by the amount of how many people are in the class. cut out the squares and hand one square out to each child. have them draw what their square is then reconnect them all so it makes ne big picture again, so now you have the picture of the puppy (or whatever it is you choose) but each portion is redrawn by each kid in the class! its perfect every parent will want one! if i didnt explain it very well i.m me and ill try and explain it a little better…vbeach_bunnie ( on yahoo messenger) i have a few other ideas too

You can have them do a finger painting collage and then sign their names by their hands, thats simple and fun for them to do and if this is the parents thats going to be at the fund raiser I think it will be a good cute thing. I have two girls in pre-k honestl if they did something like taht at their school I would want to have that.

I was just gonna tell you what your first answerer told you. Just make a colage of all the children's art work. If the auction is for the parents then you could always do those cement hand prints or sculptures. All parents love those!!!!

    Hi,
Well I would get a large posterboard and then have them put a foot print down in one color, then hand prints on both sides… looks like a butterfly and then take a picture of each child and put it on like the face…. My son's school also had a quilt made with each childs hand print on it… that was very cute!

My son is entering kindergarten this year and some of the projects we've done together may help you. We took some of his toy trucks and cars, all different sizes, rolled them in paint and rolled them on poster board. Then we framed it and hung it on the wall in our living room. It looks like an expensive abstract painting. Or we took wax paper and acrylic paint and put the paper in a large flat box. Then we took a couple marbles and put them in the box and rolled the box around. That's also framed and on the wall. Another project we've done is macrame. We took tissue paper and cut it into various shapes and then used Modge Podge to glue them onto the vase. Once the glue was dry, we put one more coat of glue on it to make it shiny.

    Hope these ideas help.

I suggest you have them make decorative bird houses (to keep inside, not for the birds). You can get pre-made, unfinished birdhouses from a craft store (such as Michaels). Then, pick a few themes: Halloween, Fall, and Christmas (gingerbread-like house), for instance. However, you don't have to do holidays. You could decorate a little school. You could make a barn (with toy animals). Let your imagine take a run!

You could paint a bird house one color all over. Then, using little hand stamps, the children could dip the hands in different colored paint and stamp the hands all over the birdhouse. Flattened leaves can work like stamps too, though may be a little more difficult to manipulate. You could use them likewise on a fall-themed birdhouse. (If you freeze them before use, they flatten better.)

I'd try a shell-covered birdhouse. I'd also be curious about a crayon shavings birdhouse. Take the paper off some crayons. Then, with a knife (not for a pre-K child) shave off slivers of crayon. You should end up with many beautiful colors. You can glue them on the house (as you would glitter). Or you can try ironing them on to the house using wax and an iron on low to medium heat. (I haven't tried this, so you'll have to use your judgment.)

Though you may already know this, a reminder won't hurt. ; ) As manager of the class project, you may delegate tasks as needed. In fact, people should rally to help you because 1) you're volunteering 2) this is a fundraiser. The success of the project stands to benefit all. Good luck, and have fun!

Have everyone in the class make homemade Christmas, Valentine, or Easter cards. Get colored card stock and print the name of the school and the class on the backs. They could draw pictures or just finger paint. Rubber stamps and stickers would be great too. Leave the insides blank so whoever buys them can personalize them.

try making a quilt. Give each child a 6 in square piece of white fabric and some fabric markers and have them draw a picture of their favorite thing. sew them all together with some child like fabric filler squares and back with fleece. Super easy and every parent will want it.

make a theme basket, like a movie basket and you would have the students bring in items(new )that pertain to movies, like popcorn, soda, candy, couple movies…
baskets can be for any thing, holidays, events or favorite things like chocolate,
they make a great auction item and sell high priced.

    Enjoy

Make the theme "LOVE". Have the kids and their parents buy or go through all kinds of magazines and cut out pictures of things they love and attach them to a large poster board and have it sealed. What is more adorable then seeing what love is through a 4 year olds eyes!

    Make a cookbook.

Have each child contribute his or her very favourite recipe, and round it out with some favourite mom/dad ones. Add some photos of the kids. Chef's hats, aprons, wooden spoons for props.
